The Jury Is In

I like my job. Somehow, being able to shield someone from the disorganised crap above me makes dealing with it feel better.

In other news, the best argument for music piracy is the cure. I mean Look what happened! Their depressed, sorrowful music was fantastic so we all bought their albums. So they got rich from album sales and concert tickets.

Rich, and successful. And happy. And began making happy music.

Happy music should be left to the lighthouse family and drunken football fans where it belongs. The cure’s last 26 fucked up happy albums have blown a row of goats that stretched so far over the horison Rob hasn’t needed to fly since the late 1980’s - he just walks between continents on an unending row of goats his music blows.

If you love your artist’s music, protect it! DON’T buy their albums.

Errors in Replication

The three most important things you will earn in life are:

1. How to make yourself orgasm

2. What makes you happy

3. What your purpose is.

The last is the most important, because your purpose affects not just you but the people around you and the people who come after you - possibly even thousands of years after you die.

What am I getting at?

Can you please get green power now? It takes a phone call to your electricity company and a few dollars more a month on the bill. What in the fuck are you waiting for?

In other news

  • My new job is sucking in some ways. However, my jury is still out so I’ll reserve Blogular Judgement for another day.
  • Vanguard is rocking. I just made myself a full suit of copper plate armour, every piece of which is quality grade A and enchanted to add Dexterity. This is an implementation phase of my grand strategy, which I am enjoying immensely. So far, four of my friends are playing as well and it looks like a fifth will be joining us shortly. My dreams of reviving the great “regular group” from EQ are looking good! Stability and the bug rate have improved to a fairly trace element level since release day, while performance has evened out slightly. I’ve noticed that of my friends who are playing, the ones who have an overall very positive impression of the game have a 7600GT, whereas the two who have been negative in some way both have crappy hardware. I think the stunning visuals are a strong drawcard here.
  • We still haven’t managed to move to St Kilda, despite Mel putting quite a lot of effort into finding and inspecting places while I’m at work. This sucks, but it means I have silly amounts of money in the bank at any given time. Which also sucks - 1% interest doesn’t turn me on much. Knowing the strength of my Irony Magnet, we’ll move into a nice air conditioned place on the last hot day until December.
  • I am fairly unimpressed with the quality of pornography around. Why are we so childish as a culture? 90% of us watch and appreciate pornographic films at some point in our lives, why do we leave it to these idiots and assholes to produce them? Why must they have no plot and no acting? I see the trend slowly beginning to reverse, but its too slow - like a lot of things.
  • The Digital Download vs Boxes in Shops war continues. Sony released Vanguard via Digital Download (as well as boxes in shops) and has no doubt made a shitload of money doing it. Props to them for getting near the full $50 US buy price straight into their bank account. I bet they make less than half of that per sale through the ‘retail’ channel. I also bought Medieval II Total War through digital download, although I had to say I was in mexico before they’d sell it to me. No sign yet of the audiovisual studios doing this though, BBC are implementing a totally fucked and gimped DRM version which wont attract much attention (I’ll probably try it for a month), and so far everybody else is still giving head and most of their income to their distribution channel.
