I began this blog in early 2005 with no idea where it was headed. Today it retains that utter lack of direction, but topics range from management through tits to the environment, politics, ethics, and drinking your own shit.
It’s fairly offensive in places, which is largely because its impossible to get people to read some of the topics I post on without either an entertaining or an offensive writing style. Being a talentless hack, offensive is a lot easier for me than entertaining. The offensiveness is also partly due to the fact that I conform to no species of political correctness, and ruthlessly challenge views I consider to be ill thought out and mindlessly replicated from one conformist person to another. For example I believe the USA should have gone to Iraq (for both gulf wars) and should not leave now, but that much of their policy with respect to Iraq prior to that was unethical - certainly from the standpoint of the Iraqi people.
On Sunday, 8 April, 2007, I moved this blog from portallus to my own server running wordpress. With it came all previous articles (after a lot of copy/paste/change date/post/verify/fix).
Who the hell am I? I am an Australian man, now 30 years of age, presently working as a Systems Administrator and team leader for an internet infrastructure firm. I can be described as both a communist and a capitalist (have you not noticed that you need TWO wings to fly?)
My short term goal is to become an IT manager and then to become a good one (over the next few years) and my long term goal is to rid the world of poverty, and the human race of the major threats to its continued survival and stability. I wish to prevent all catastrophes which may bring about a dark age, however the most likely scenario for this that I probably spend most energy on is, in my view, Global Warming.
I have a good idea on how to achieve my short term goal, but only a very loose plan on how to achieve my long term goals. I can say that I have ruled out activism and education as possible means. (I am in no way trying to save the world with this blog)
I currently reside in St Kilda, Melbourne, Australia, and have an unreasoning fear of sharks. I am agnostic (I am unsure whether God is there or not, regardless of how many times he contacts me or anything he says when he does), and my sexual preferences are none of your fucking business, unless you are bipedal and have a pulse. Or are a very sexy quadruped. Or an exceedingly sexy dead biped.
I am a computer nerd and play computer games a lot. Some would say too much, and that I should get out more and see the world. These people don’t understand how much better Vanguard looks than real life.
